Tangy, tasty Chutney learnt from my Mom

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings

    • 4 big Green Tomatoes (not very raw )
    • 1/2 Fresh Coconut Grated
    • 4-5 Green Chilles
    • 3-4 Cloves of Garlic
    • 1/4 tsp of Mustard Seeds
    • 1 tbsp of low cal oil.
    • 1/4 tsp of Sugar
    • 1 string of Curry Leaves (pick around 6-7 leaves, washed)
    • 2-3 string of Coriander Leaves (Washed and Chopped)
    • Salt to Taste


    1. Cut the Raw Tomatoes into 4 pieces each, slightly slit the green chillies and keep aside.
    2. Heat the oil, add the green chillies and let it just fry, immediately take it out, for the remaining oil add the Curry Leaves and chopped tomatoes and let it fry do not close/ cover the lid, fry for 2 minutes.
    3. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool.
    4. Now put all the above ingredients in a mixture and grind it to thick paste.
    5. Serve it with Hot Idlies, Hot Rice with a bit of ghee, Chapathi or plain Paratha.



    Hi, if we add roasted groundnut powder or sesame powder in the chutny instead od coconut it will be equally tasty.
