Onion parathas

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 3 cups maida(refined wheat flour)
    • 4 onions
    • 1 cup ghee
    • 2 tbsp garam masala
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. peel skin from onions,c ut fine and fry in 3 tsp of ghee.
    2. When it has browned, add garam masala and stir well. Remove from heat.
    3. Add this to wheat flour, pour some lukeworm water and salt and knead it to a still dough. Make 8 equal-size balls.
    4. Smear some wheat flour on a rolling board and roll out a perfect round and flat piece.
    5. Rub some ghhe on the surface and fold it. Roll it out again into a paratha.
    6. Rub ghee again and roll it out once again.
    7. Place a tava or griddleon the stove and pour half tsp ghee on it. Slowly lift the rolled-out paratha and place it on the tava.
    8. Drizzle drops of ghee all along its circumfrence. When browned on one side cook the other side
    9. Use up the cup of ghee for rubbing on paratha as well as for shallow-frying it.
    10. Serve with garlic chutney.

    hi pooja,you can use atta instead of maida but the taste will differ and I think maida tastes better.

    Instead of using maida, use regular whole wheat atta. It's more healthier and easy to digest. Plus you can make all parathas with regular wheat flour. No need to add maida.
