Seven cup cake

Recipe by Radha Bhaskar of

The name seven cup has been coined such that it is easy to remember the quantity i.e. 4 items each one cup and sugar 3 cups, 7 cups in total.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 1 cup Gram flour
  • 1 cup Coconut, grated
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Clarified Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar

Editor's comment: Most people have tried this recipe with 3 cups of sugar instead of the author mentioning 2 cups (which could be a mistake).

Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together and then pour it into a pan. Keep the pan on low heat. Keep stirring it till it leaves the sides of the pan.
  2. Now pour it onto a greased tray. When it cools, cut into small pieces and serve.
Note: the editor's comment about the sugar quantity

Hi, I made this really wonderful recipe for the first time. And it came out really well. Just a quick tip for first timers like me, if you find that ur burfi is turning out like a fudge & if you have already spread it on a metal tra, then pop it into the oven a 200 C for about 5-7 mins. take it out when it starts frothing at the sides & then mix it well again & flatten & cut.

Hi, This recipe stands perfectly well but with 1 adjustment. Read the Sugar as 3 cups instead of 2 cups. Now the total cups will total to 7 and the recipe will also be a flop proof recipe. I have tried this several times and not once has it failed me. Try it with this correction and it will be wonderful.

This is a very easy recipe that turns out really good every single time I make it. The ingredienst and amounts are easy to remember and all you have to do is put them together, preferably in a non-stick pan and stir till the sugar melts and everything pulls together and becomes thick. You then pour it into a greased pan and slice it into squares or diamonds when is cooled a little. Do not wait till it hardens to slice. It will be difficult then. It is very easy. If you are not succeeding, you must have made a mistake somewhere. It is very mean to pass rude comments. I do not know anyone of you so you can take it that this is a genuine observation.

After going thru the adverse comments, I had some kind of apprehension. whether to try or not. But as I was looking for a simple, easy and quick to make sweet receipe, 7 cup was the ideal choice. I tried with 3 cups of sugar, 1 cup each of other ingredients for my Navarathri guests. It came out very well. I am happy that I tried this at 10 PM and finished by 10:40PM. Ladies, please try once again. It is a very good sweet.

I request ppl not to try this recipe coz it turns out horrible. I am sorry to say this but I have tried it twice thinking that I might have done a mistake. But no, I did the way mentioned. Something is surely wrong with this girls... I ll leave the rest to you ppl. I have wasted all the butter, sugar and all the rest items... I request the person to give a correct method and the right quantities. I have tried the recipe adding 7 cups of ingredients only... Thanks .... Seema

Oh God, I read the comments after trying to make this recipe. Please tell me should we add 1 extra cup sugar than that mentioned in the recipe

suma

the recipe says 7 cups....but all the ingredints r supposed to add upto 7 cups....but this one adds upto 6.....so which one of the ingredients should be more

nidhi

i guess u forgot to put the correct amt. of sugar in ur recipe...

URSULA

The total cups show only 6 and not 7. I think 1 cup sugar is less.
