Sweet Poha(vella aval)

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1¼ cup poha(flaked rice)
    • 3/4 cup jaggery
    • ¼ cup coconut fresh grated
    • 1/2 tsp elaichi powder
    • a pinch pacha karpooram(edible camphor)
    • 5 cashew nuts
    • 2 tsp ghee
    • ¼ cup water
    • Raisins(optional)


    1. Wash poha and drain the water. Don't have to soak for more than 3-4 minutes.
    2. Heat kadai, add water, jaggery and elaichi. Keep thick syrup of 2 string (getti paagu) & more bubbles comes out.switch off the gas.
    3. Add this to the poha and mix well.Poha shd be poha and another one shd not be sticked.
    4. Add coconut, pacha karpooram and mix well.
    5. Heat ghee and fry cashew nuts and mix it to the sweetened poha.

    Note:if u want to add raisins can do it when frying cashew nuts.
