Moong dal sweet

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 cups Moong dal (soaked for 2 hrs)
    • 1 ½ cups sugar
    • 2 tsp ghee
    • Oil for deep-frying
    • 1 tsp elaichi powder

    Directions

    1. Grind the soaked dal coarsely with minimum water possible
    2. Heat a thick-bottomed pan and add sugar into it with 1tsp water
    3. When sugar starts melting, add the ground daal and keep stirring.
    4. In no time the whole mix becomes watery.
    5. Keep stirring till it starts leaving the sides of the pan.Now add elaichi and mix.
    6. To test completion cool a small spoonful and touch with wet hands. If nothing sticks, it’s done. Add a tsp of ghee and pour into a greased thali
    7. When slightly warm spread evenly with wet hands (¾ inch thick) and cut into 4 cm/4 cm squares.
    8. Deep-fry these pieces in hot oil till golden brown.
    NOTE:  Cool completely to room temp before serving- then only they taste good.
