Recipe by Pooja Srivastava of Edison, US

This is an Indo-Chinese recipe. Please make sure you alter the spice taste as per your liking.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 kg boneless chicken (cut in medium size peices)

    For marination:

    • 2 teaspn balck pepper powder
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespn Maida
    • Salt to taste

    Main Ingedients:

    • 1 onion (cut lengthwise)
    • 2-3 spring onions
    • Green capsicum (cut lengthwise)
    • Red and yellow capsicum (lenghtwise-few pieces)
    • Salt to taste
    • 1/2 teaspn Ginger garlic paste
    • 1 tablespn Soya Sauce
    • 1 teaspn Chilli Sauce
    • 1 teaspn Tomato Ketchup
    • 1 teaspn Vinegar
    • Oil for frying

    Directions

    1. Wash and clean chicken pieces. Do not make very small pieces, as they might break while cooking.
    2. Fork the chicken a little and marinate chicken pieces with marination ingredients. Keep aside for 30 mins.
    3. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the chicken pieces till they are cooked.
    4. Drain on absorbent paper.
    5. In the same oil add the regular onions and saute them a little. Add ginger-garlic paste.
    6. To the onions, add the onion part of spring onions (leave aside the green for garnish).
    7. Add chicken pieces to this.
    8. Add sauces and salt and vinegar.
    9. Keep the flame between medium and high for chinese cooking, else the onions and veggies become soggy.
    10. After the chicken is well-coated with the sauces, add the colorful capsicums. Mix well till they get cooked slightly.
    11. Garnish with greens of spring onions and little sprinkle of black pepper powder.

Note: You can alter the spicy taste as per you liking. I usually avoid adding ajinomoto since it is bad for health. Red n yellow capsicum is very good for the heart.

For vegetarians: You can make the same recipe with paneer or tofu. make sure it does not break or crumble.

Very Good! I tried this dish and it came out really good. The only problem I had was that it was too dry to eat with rice or anything else, so it is more like a appetizer dish. I will be definitely making this dish again very soon. Thank you.
