Fish in Tomato Gravy

It is simple and delicious recipe of Bengali Cuisine. I guarantee you will like it.

Ingredients


  • 6 pieces of Any Fish
  • 1 Potato
  • Puree of 4 tomatoes
  • 5 Green Chilies
  • ½ tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Onion
  • 5 Tbsp. Mustard Oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Turmeric and Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Slice onion and chillies.
  2. Boil potato and mash.
  3. Heat oil. apply salt and haldi to fish pieces and fry slightly. remove and keep aside.
  4. Fry mustard seeds in the same oil. after it stops spluttering add the onions and fry till golden.
  5. Now add the puree, haldi and salt and fry. Next add the mashed potatos and fry till dry.
  6. Next add a cup water. when it boils, add the fish pieces and chillies. cover and simmer till done. Water can be adjusted accordingly. serve garnished with chopped coriander leaves on a bed of rice.

Yes, I agree the recipe can do without the mashed potatoes, either leave it out or cut into chunks and add to the gravy.

the recipe would have been perfect without adding mashed potatoes.
