This famous Maharashtrian sweet is made with 'dink'(gum raisin/gaund)

Recipe by kirti of , GB

It is for it's medicinal properties that the gum resin is used in this ladu /sweetmeat.It is, traditionally, fed to lactating mothers. It is also given to children in cold weather as dried fruits are supposed to be 'heating'.

    • 2 cups Copra grated fine
    • 1/2 cup finely ground Almonds
    • 1/2 cup ground cashewnuts

    • 2 cups Ghee
    • 2 cups date powder(kharik powder)
    • 2 cup Caster sugar
    • 1 1/2 cup walnut powder

    Directions

    1. Heat a cup of  ghee in a pan & deep fry gum raisin, keep aside to cool.
    2. Grind the gum from grinder.
    3. Mix together grated copra,almounds,cashewnuts,dates powder,walnut powder,raisins & slices of pista.
    4. Then add gum raisin & mix it well
    5. Now add sugar & also mix it properly with a mixture(taste the sugar amount, if need add sugar)
    6. Now heat remaining ghee with the ghee which used for frying the gum-raisin & pour it on the dryfruit mixture.
    7. Allow it cool & then mix it & bind the laddu of it.
    8. My mummy makes it in every winter for us as these are good for winter season.
