Ondelege chutney

This chutney is very delicious.u can use this chutney as bread spread also

This is a kind of leaves which looks like creeper and grows everywhere in rainy season.This is called as centella in english and ek pan in konkani.It is said by our ancestors that this leaves has great medicinal values and eating 2-3 leaves early in the morning on empty stomach will boost the memory power ,hence very gud 4 kids.V prepare chutney out of this leaves .here is the receipe.Try it out.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 bunch ondelege or centella leaves
    • 3/4 cup coconut
    • 3-4 green chillies
    • 1/2 tsp tamarind juice
    • salt to taste
    • sugar 1 tsp
    • ghee 2-3 tsp

     

    Directions

    1. clean the leaves and remove the stem from ondelege leaves.
    2. In a pan , when hot put ghee and roast lightly the green chillies and the leaves . When the leaves gets roasted put coconut also and roast for a min and allow it to cool.
    3. In a blender , blend the roasted ingredients and tamarind juice .Remove it in a bowl , add salt and sugar mix well and serve it with dosa, or as bread spread or as an accompaniment with rice and dal etc.

    Check it in Srilankan stores also, as these are available only with srilankan vegetable vendors at Carrefour vegetable market.

    Dear Abeda, U can find these leaves @ Carrefour Shindagha.i.e attached to the hypermarket of carrefour in the same building there is vegetable market and u can find these with those vendors who sell green leafy vegetables.I could find this leaves only @ that market in Dubai.Cheers!
