Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 200 gms Bamboo shoots
    • 200 gms Onions (sliced fine)
    • ½ tsp Haldi
    • 1 tsp Dhania powder
    • ½ tsp Zeera powder
    • 2 Green chillies (deseeded and slit lengthwise)
    • 1 tbsp Oil
    • Salt to taste


    1. Rinse the bamboo shoots well — many times — to remove all traces of brine.
    2. Slice into bite size pieces. Heat oil in a pan and add the onions to it.
    3. When the onions are translucent, put in the bamboo shoots along with the powdered spices.
    4. Stir-fry for about two minutes.
    5. Now add half cup of boiling water and let it simmer — uncovered — for about five minutes.
    6. Garnish with chillies.
