Cassava Crisps

Recipe by fatma of Dar-es-salaam, TZ

Ingredients vegetarian 10 servings

    1. 1/2 kg Cassava
    2. Salt
    3. 3 tsps red chilly powder
    4. Oil for deep frying


    1. Peel cassava and wash it,grate it to thin long crisps.
    2. Spread on cloth, cover and keep in sun to dry the water, turning every time,even semi dry is fine. (drying makes frying easy and less fat is absorbed)
    3. Deep fry in hot oil few at a time,till golden brown and crisp.
    4. Sprinkle red chilly powder and salt ,toss to mix well.
    5. When cool ,store in a air tight container.
    6. You can even eat with chilly sauce, tomato sauce or green chutney.


    Cassava in Hindi is known as Mogo
