An authentic Bengali home made dish. Adding prawns adds flavour to the Jackfruit curry. Best had with Chapattis or as a side dish with dal. Vegetarians can omit the prawns and use green peas instead.

It is a typical Persian dish of dal cooked with vegetables. Very delicious and chatpata. It can be either made with or without chicken/mutton. Goes well with rice. This is a vegetarian version.

Tindora (Ivy gourd) masala

Tindora is very popular in the South, especially Andhra. I prepared this dish with a tempering of mustard, curry leaves and asafoetida and finishing off with a combination of masalas like coriander, cummin, sesame and red chillies. I used lemon juice instead of tamarind for that tangy taste. Goes well with chapattis or as a side dish.
