Mashed Aloo

A very side dish of rice

Fast to cook, tasty to eat, always available, adds flavor to the main course, Also known as Aloo Chokha in certain regions

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 4 Potatoes
    • 1 tsp mustard oil
    • 1 onion (cut into small pieces)
    • 1-2 green chili cut into very small pieces
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tsp poppy seeds (soaked in water)

    Directions

    1. Boil the potatoes and peel them off
    2. In a pan heat mustard oil and add onion pieces into it, fry till reddish brown
    3. Add the poppy seeds to it and fry for a minute
    4. Mash the potatoes with hand and add the fried material to it
    5. Mix the whole thing with ½ tsp raw mustard oil, green chili pieces and salt
    6. Make round balls of it
    7. Serve with rice as side dish of any kind of dal
