Methi Pulao

fenugreek seeds flavored rice

A simple, different but tasty pulao.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 2 cups Basmathi rice
    • 2 finely sliced onion
    • 1 chopped small tomato
    • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds (methi)
    • 1 small piece of cinnamon stick
    • 2 cloves
    • 2 elachies
    • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 3 tbsp oil
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Soak rice in water for 15 mins. 
    2. Place pressure cooker on medium flame. Heat oil.
    3. Add elachies, cloves and cinnamon. Add fenugreek seeds.
    4. after it becomes golden brown, add thin sliced onion. Fry well untill it becomes golden brown.
    5. Add ginger garlic paste ane fry it untill it loses its raw smell.
    6. Add chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder.
    7. Pour 4 cups of water. Add soaked rice and salt to taste.
    8. Close the cooker and put weight on it.
    9. After 1 whistle, completely simmer for 2 mins. Turn off the flame.
    10. After pressure released, open the cooker and mix the pulao.
    11. Serve hot the pulao with chicken or mutton fry, raitha, etc.

    hi i think usha says right. u can put some of methi leaves in it and also use for garnishing.it gives flevour.thanks fatima..

    how can u name it as methi pulao.one spoon of methi seeds in pulao does not make it methi pulao
