Achappam or Achu Murukku

a traditional sweet of Tamil Nadu

by: christy gerald of Dubai, AE

A popular and traditional sweet of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It is known as Achu Murukku in Tamil Nadu and Achappam in Kerala. Adding one well-beaten egg surely improves the taste of the sweet. However strict vegetarians can try this dish without egg.

Dear rajeswari,u r right abt the dish. When I was young, I preferred eating Achappam's batter than its being fried.I made that habit lost with much difficulty later. If u buy that Achu Mould,u can try Veg Rose Cookies.

christy,i love this achu murukku as it has less sweet, unique taste, which can not be defined but when i came to know that egg is added i stopped eating it.i enquired my friends too & came to know that its not possible to make it without egg. When i go to my hometown,i will buy that achu and try.
