my mum used to prepare this on diwali n holi.
4 cups of rice
3 1/2 cups sugar(powered)
3 1/2 cups ghee
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1/3 cup milk
Wash n soak rice in a plenty of water.
Change water everyday and repeat this processs for 5 days.
Drain and spread rice on a clean sheet for 3-4 hrs.
Grind into a powder and sieve.
Mix sugar, press and keep aside for 2 hrs.
Sprinkle milk little by little, kneading mixture into a pliable dough.
In a plastic sheet, sprinkle few poppy seeds.
take a pingpong size ball of the mixture and press over poppy seeds. rotate and thin the ball into 4"size round with hands. don't use a rolling pin.
heat 3-4 tbsp of ghee in a pan.
let in one round, seeds side up.
shallow fry on low flame, till golden brown.
drain and keep aside.
repeat for whole mixture.
cool down well before storing in a air tight jar.
