Its a healthy sweet dish

Recipe by Marufa Ariff of sharjah, AE

It is also called maash ka halwa, it is very healthy for the kids and the teenagers.

Ingredients non vegetarian 6 servings


    • 2 cups of maash dhal / urid dhal
    • 2 cups of sugar
    • 100 gms of ghee
    • 2 cloves
    • 1/2 inch stick of cinnamon
    • more than 1/2 litre of milk
    • 8 eggs

     

    Directions

    1. Roast the urid dhal in a pan till lightly golden colour. let it cool.Dry grind the dhal in a mixture grinder to fine powder.
    2. Boil the milk and keep aside.
    3. In a deep bowl put the powdered dhal, sugar and the eggs beat briskly.
    4. When the eggs are beaten well, add the milk beat well till their is no lumps.
    5. The consistency should be like the appam batter.
    6. In a wide pan, if you use non stick pan then its better,melt the ghee add the clove and the cinnamon.
    7. Once you smell the flavour add the batter slowly, stir well.
    8. As this is one of the halwa, stirring is the important thing in it.
    9. Stir well,cook in a medium flame and reduce to the simmer.
    10. Stir well, cook till the ghee comes out .
    11. Serve hot and can be store it in a fridge for 10 days.

    in our place its a traditional halwa given to girls for a month's time when they attain puberty but eggs mostly not included.It strengthens the bones the saying is there for this halwa.
