tomatoes in coconut milk

In our family every one likes this dish

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings

    • 5 Tomatoes (cut in to big pieces)
    • 2 cup thick coconut milk (you can use coconut powder also to make coconut milk)
    • 1½ cup Thin coconut milk
    • 3 onions (thinly sliced)
    • whole garam masalas (7 cloves, 5 cardamoms, 2 cinnamon,1 bay leaf,10 whole pepper)
    • 3/4" Ginger (chopped)
    • 1 cup Coriander leaves
    • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
    • 6-8 green chillies (slit)
    • 2 sprig curry leaves
    • 2 tsp ghee or oil


    1. Boil tomatoes with thin coconut milk for 7-10 mts. Cool and grind to paste.
    2. Heat oil or ghee, add curry leaves, stir add whole garam masalas,add onions fry till golden colour, add ginger and fry .
    3. Now add chillies, saute well, add ground tomatoes ,turmeric,salt, and few coriander leaves.let it cook for 7mts.
    4. Now add thick coconut milk and boil slowly for few minutes.
    5. Finally add the remaining coriande leaves and switch off the gas,
    6. Season with golden fried onions.(optional)
