Egg Halwa

Ingredients non vegetarian 8 servings


    • 6 eggs
    • 1 kg milk 
    • 4 tbsp ghee                                 
    • 2 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 tsp baking powder
    • nuts ( almonds - pistachios )
    • 2 1/2 tbsp butter

    Directions

    1. Boil the milk so that it becomes half the original quantity .Now keep the milk aside off the flame .
    2. Beat the eggs and sugar together with a beater so that it becomes creamy .
    3. Add baking powder to the eggs .
    4. Put the milk again on flame and add the eggs mixture to it slowly and gradually stirring continuously ,so that no lumps are formed .Add ghee to it .
    5. The mixture should not stick to the pan so you must keep stirring .
    6. Now when the ghee is settled down then add butter to it and keep stirring .
    7. When  the oil separates from the edges and the colour becomes golden brown the halwa is ready .
    8. Take it out on a slightly greased tray and sprinkle grounded nuts .
    9. Let it cool then cut into desired shapes .

    can we avoid ghee and use something else?

    Hi tasnim,this recipe is good but only if we are making in small amount.But if we are preparing for some guests we should use mava also,as it increase the quantity & gives great taste,also it makes the halwa more soft.regds
