Drumstick Pachidi

very tasty side dish and easy to prepare

This dish was taught to me by my mother-in-law and is an easy one to make.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 2 drumsticks (large)
    • 1 cup Mung dal
    • 2 red chillies
    • 1/2 cup Coconut
    • pinch of asefoedita powder
    • pinch of turmeric powder
    • some curry leaves
    • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1/4 tsp urad dal
    • salt to taste


    1. Cut the drumstick into small pieces (about 1 inch each) and place it aside.
    2. Cook the mung dal and drumstick by adding sufficient water, also add a pinch of turmeric powder to it.
    3. Grind together red chillies and coconut with some vegetable oil and grind the two of them.
    4. 4. Once the dal and drumstick is cooked add the ground mixture to ie and salt to taste.
    5. Heat oil in another vessel and allow the mustard seeds to splutter. Then add the urud dal and curry leaves to the above mixture.
    6. There, you have the drumstick pachidi ready to be served hot with plain rice.



    When you say Pachidi, is it not suppose to be with Curd??
