Garlic lovers,pls try this Garlic Chicken Masala.A tasty South-Indian preparation of this masala is given here & this requires 25 mins cooking-time.For Garlic Chicken preparation,try the same recipe avoiding tomato and adding 1 1/2 cups water only.


  • 750 gms chicken pieces - washed well
  • 12 garlic pearls -chopped fine
  • 1 big onion - finely chopped
  • 1 tomato - finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies-slit lengthwise
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 1/2 to 3 tsp garlic paste(don't add more)
  • 1/2 tsp fresh pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ground masala of (1/2 cinnamon stick,2cloves,2 green cardamoms,1/2 tsp saunf,1/2 tsp cumin seeds)
  • 2 tsp refined oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt - to taste
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice(don't add more)
  • few coriander leaves
  • few fried curry leaves
  • few fried onions
  • 2 1/2 cups water


  1. Heat oil in a pressure pan,put chopped onions,chopped garlic,2 green chillies and chopped tomatoes.Saute till the onions are slightly golden brown in colour.
  2. Add ginger paste,garlic paste and stir till the rawness diminishes.
  3. Add the coriander powder,chilli powder,pepper powder,jeera powder,turmeric powder,ground masala and salt.Stir this for 4 mins on medium flame.
  4. Add the chicken pieces and stir for 2 mins.
  5. Add water,coriander leaves and pressure-cook upto 4 whistles.
  6. Open the lid and add the fried curry leaves,fried onions and lemon juice.Mix this well.
  7. Serve this Garlic Chicken Masala hot with rice or Indian breads,etc.,
