Chawli ka Saalan

Thick gravy can be served with rotis or breads of one's choice.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup washes Black Eyed Beans
    • 2-3 cups water
    • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
    • 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
    • ½ tsp ginger-garlic paste
    • ½ tsp garam masala powder (optional)
    • 1-2 onions chopped
    • 2 tomatoes chopped
    • 1heaped tsp coriander powder
    • few curry leaves
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 4 garlic cloves crushed
    • 3 tbsp oil
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Pressure cook Chawli in cooker with water, Turmeric Powder, chilli powder ginger-garlic paste, garam masala powder, onion, tomatoes and salt. take three to four whistles.
    2. In a non-stick shallow pan heat oil add thge curry leaves, crushed garlic, cumin seeds and fry till garlic turns golden in collour.
    3. Now add the coriander powder, stir and immediately pour the cooked black eyed beans (chawli) in it. Cook for a while with lid.
    4. Serve with rotis or pita bread or any bread of your choice.
    5. This dish can be derved with rice too.
    6. coriander leaves can be used for garnishing.
