Bread Halwa

Fried Bread soaked in milk mawa sugar mixture

u can try with white bread and can add food colour and pistas too.u can shallow fry bread.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 1 loaf brown bread
    • 2 cups milk
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1 tbsp ghee for frying nuts
    • 1 cup mawa (keep few mawa for garnishing)
    • 4-5 pices crushed green cardamom
    • 3 strands saffron,soaked in warm milk
    • 1 tbsp each badam,raisins and cashewnuts
    • melted ghee for deep fry

    Directions

    1. Cut the bread into 4 pieces.Remove the crusts.
    2. Heat sufficient ghee on medium flame and deep fry till crispy and golden brown.
    3. Drain the excess ghee.
    4. In a non stick pan,boil the milk.add sugar,mawa (crumbled)and cardamom.
    5. Close the lid and simmer the gas stove.stir in between.
    6. When the mixture thickens,add the bread pieces and the saffron milk.
    7. Cook till thick consistency and bread absorbs the moisture.
    8. Saute the nuts and raisins with the same ghee
    9. Garnish with nuts and raisins and mawa.
    10. Bread halwa is ready.
