Plums Srikand

sweet plums with yoghurt

you can try same with mango pulp

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 cups Yoghurt
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup sweet plums
    • 1/2 tsp elaichi powder

     

    Directions

    1. Pour Yoghurt in a cotton cloth and tie it tightly and hang it overnight.Whey is drained off.
    2. Cut the plums into small cubes.
    3. Pour the yoghurt in a bowl and add plums and elaichi powder.
    4. Whip once in blender and refrigerate for 5-6 hrs.
    5. Serve with puris.

    In tamilnadu pachidi or raita almost 90% made of curd(homemade) or Yoghurt except manga pachidi,narthanga pachadi out of tamarind but maharashtrians won't accept when banana and yoghurt mixed as srikand.

    Rajeshwari,pachadi and raita require salt,g.chilli etc in its recipes.but Srikand requires sugar not salt.If done with banana,yoghurt,sugar etc it should be called as Srikand only-not as raita.

    Rajeshwari,y the plums and yoghurt combination is called Srikand but the banana and yoghurt combination is called raita.y it is not called srikand?.pls explain.Pachadi does not require yoghurt but curd in its preparation

    Dear Christy,if i add banana to srikand it cannot be srikand,banana and yoghurt combination is called kelichi koshimbir(banana raita) and in tamil its called vazhaipazha pachidi.

    Rajeswari, u can try this Srikand with banana and yoghurt - an easy desert almost every weekend in our family.
