Spicy Brinjal Masala

This Spicy Brinjal Masala is a popular side dish of SouthIndia and needs 9-10 mins microwave cooking time.This side dish is a good best combination for rice with rasam or Curd Rice or chapathis or Idlis. U can do Mushroom Masala the same way.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 200gm Brinjals(Clean and cut into bite-size pieces)
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
    • 2 tsp chilli powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala or any good mutton masala
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1/2 tsp split urad dhal
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 1 tsp white sesame seeds-this adds fine flavour to the fry
    • 2 tsp or salt to taste
    • few curry leaves
    • few coriander leaves
    • 3/4 cup of water
    • 1 tbsp refined oil

    Directions

    1. Take a microwave bowl. Add refined oil, chopped onions, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, split uraddhal and curry leaves.
    2. Microwave this on high for a min.Take the bowl out.
    3. Add all the other ingredients except lemon juice including 3/4 cup of water and mix well.
    4. Microwave(high) this mixture for 9-10 mins.
    5. Take the bowl out and Sprinkle the lemon juice on top and mix well.
    6. Serve this tasty Spicy Brinjal Masala hot with rice or rasam or yoghurt or Curd rice or chapathis or Idlis.

    U can add 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste in step 1,but it is optional.
