Beetroot-Sago Halwa

Halwa made with beetroot,sago,coconut milk and milk

Very ,very tasty Halwa in 70 mins time with 60 mins cooking time atleast. Try at home and enjoy this once-famous Halwa.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 1 cup ghee roasted sago
    • 1 cup thick coconut milk
    • 1 1/2 cup second coconut milk
    • 400 ml full cream milk
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1 grated beetroot
    • 2 tbsp ghee
    • ghee roasted cashews and raisins
    • few drops vanilla essence

    Directions

    1. soak the sago pearls in coconut milk for 30 mins.Grind it to a smooth paste in a mixer grinder.
    2. Cook the grated beetroot in full-cream milk .Grind this cooked beetroot to a thick paste.
    3. Heat ghee in a frying pan add the sago-coconut paste,then beetroot paste,sugar and little vanilla essence.Cook for 50 mins atleast till ghee separates from the mixture stirring continuously.
    4. Add the ghee roasted cashews and raisins and mix well.
    5. Serve this Tasty Halwa hot or chilled.

    Yes Harini,its possible but this will taste and look different. Do first 2 steps.Then take a microwave bowl, add ghee, sago-coconut paste,then beetroot paste,sugar,ghee roasted cashews and raisins and little vanilla essence.Microwave this high for 40-50 mins atleast till ghee separates from the mixture stirring this every 5 or 10 mins.Serve this Tasty Halwa hot or chilled.
