Sabudana Dosa

Dosa made from Sago/Tapioca

Very different & tasty.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup Sago
    • 3 cups Rice Flour
    • Salt to taste
    • 3 cups Curd
    • 1 cup Thick ButterMilk
    • 1/2 cup Ghee (clarified butter)
    • 1 cup grated Carrot
    • 2-3 Green chillies
    • 1 cup chopped Tomatoes
    • 1/2 cup chopped Cilantro (coriander leaves)

    Directions

    1. Wash Sago well. Drain water & keep aside.
    2. Mix washed Sago & Rice flour. Add Salt & Curd. Mix well & keep aside Over night.
    3. Mix the soaked mixture well. Add ButterMilk & bring the mixture to dosa batter consistency.
    4. Heat a griddle. Apply little Oil. Pour a ladle of batter in the center. Slightly spread it.
    5. Put Ghee around & on the dosa. Sprinkle grated Carrot, Tomato, Cilantro & Green chillies. Cover a plate & cook it. Do not turn on the other side. Serve hot with Coconut chutney.
    Note : This dosa cannot be spread thin like normal dosa. This has to be made like Uttappam. Adjust ButterMilk for consistency.

    I tried this recipe using half quantities of the ingredients. I needed to use extra buttermilk to make it thinner as it was too thick. The rice flour and sabudana absorb a lot of liquid. The end result was good and appealing to eye and palate. Thank you.
