Wheat Rava Upma

Upma made from broken Wheat

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 cup broken Wheat Rava
    • 2 1/2 cups Water
    • 1 cup pre-boiled chopped Mixed Vegetables (Carrot, beans, potato, peas, Capsicum)
    • 1 Onion (chopped)
    • 2 tblsp Vegetable Oil
    • 2 tsp Mustard seeds
    • a pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
    • 2 tsp Channa dal
    • 2 tap Urad dal
    • 2 Green chillies (finely chopped)
    • 1 tsp Ginger (finely chopped)
    • 3-4 Curry leaves
    • 1/2 cup grated Coconut
    • 2 tsp Lemon juice
    • 2 tblsp chopped Cilantro (coriander leaves)
    • Salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Heat 1 tsp Oil in a kadai & lightly roast Wheat Rava. Remove in a plate & allow to cool.
    2. Add remaining Oil. Add Mustard seeds & Hing.
    3. Once the seeds crackle, add Channa dal, Urad dal, Green chillies, Curry leaves & Ginger. Fry till the dals turn light brown.
    4. Add Onion & fry for a minute. Add Mixed Vegetables & saute for 4-5 mins. Add Water & bring to a boil.
    5. When the water is boiling, add Salt & half of the Coconut. Reduce the heat to low & add the roasted Wheat Rava. Stir constantly so that no lumps are formed. Mix well & turn off the heat. Cover & keep aside for 5 mins.
    6. Add remaining Coconut, Lemon juice & Cilantro. Serve hot with Curd or Coconut chutney.
