Jackfruit Halwa

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 cup chopped Jackfruit
    • 1 cup Sugar
    • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
    • 3 tblsp Ghee (clarified butter)
    • 2 tsp Cashwenuts (broken in halves)
    • 2 tsp Almonds (cut into small pieces)
    • 2 tsp Raisins (dry grapes)
    • 1/4 cup Water

    Directions

    1. Heat Ghee in a kadai. Fry Cashwenuts & Raisins. Remove & keep aside.
    2. Add Water to the same kadai. When it starts to boil add Sugar, mix well & boil until 1 string consistency.
    3. Add Jackfruit pieces. Reduce to Medium heat, stir well & boil till the pieces are soft & the mixture is thick in consistency.
    4. Add fried Cashwenuts, Almonds & Raisins. Mix well & remove from heat. Add Cardamom powder & mix.
    5. Grease a plate with little Ghee. Pour the mixture into the greased plate & allow to cool. When the halwa is warm to touch, dip a knife in warm water, wipe it & then cut into pieces.
