Banana Flower Vada(Vazhaipoo Vadai)

Banana Flower ground with gram dhal and spices and shallow fried in oil

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 cup banana flower (good part-remove its foul part)
    • 1 cup gram dhal (soaked for an hour)
    • 1 tsp fennel seeds
    • 5 whole red chillies
    • 1/2 cup chopped onions
    • 2 chopped green chillies
    • 5 chopped curry leaves
    • 2 tsp salt - to taste
    • 1 cm size ginger (finely chopped)
    • 2 tbsp refined oil for frying

     

    Directions

    1. Grind all the ingredients except oil (without adding water) in to a thick dough using a mixer-grinder and shape them into vada (round shape without hole in the centre).
    2. Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan, shallow-fry them on both sides till golden brown.
    3. Serve this hot with tea or cofee with coconut chutney or tomato-ketchup.
