Palak Daal (tamil style)

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 bunch palak
    • 1/2 cup toovar dal
    • 6-7 pods of garlic
    • 4 green chillies
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 1/2 tsp jeera
    • 1/2 tsp methi seeds
    • tamarind(size of lemon)
    • a pinch of hing
    • salt to taste
    • 10 shallots
    • 1 chopped tomato
    • 2 tsps of chopped onions
    • 1 tsp mustard 
    • 5 whole red chillies
    • curry leaves

    Directions

    1. Presuure cook dal, palak, shallots,tomatoes,methi,jeera,green chillies,turmeric,garlic and the whole tamarind till dal is soft.
    2. with an wooden laddle mash the dal palak mixture together.
    3. in a wok heat oil, and season with mustard,curry leaves, red chillies,and hing and salt to taste.
    4. add the seasoning to the dal and boil for few minutes and serve with rice or roti.
