Rava Upma

Basic Rava Upma

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    250 grams rava 4 green chillies 1 tablespoon curd 1 piece ginger 4 small bay leaves(tej patta) 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, urad, and chana dal 25 grams fried cashewnuts a few curry leaves 1 onion chopped finely coriander leaves for garnishing salt to taste.

    Directions

    1. Fry rava to a golden colour in 2-3 teaspoon ghee.
    2. Heat 2 teaspoon oil and put in the mustard seeds and the dals.
    3. When the dals become red add ginger, chillies, bay and curry leaves and onion and fry.
    4. Add curd and mix well.Then pour 4 cups water, put in salt and bring to a boil, reduce heat and add rava.
    5. Cook while stirring constantly till the rava is thick and dry.
    6. Garnish with coriander leaves, mix in cashewnuts and serve immediately with coconut chutney.

    You can also add some chopped garlic cloves and chopped tomato for added flavour.

    The trick here is to use double the amount of water as the rava.i.e if the rava is 1cu,then take 2 cups of water.
