kaddu with prawns

used as one of traditional non- veg starters with hot steamed rice

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 500gm grated kaddu
    • 300gm smallest prawns (cleaned&fried)
    • 250gm finely grated coconut removing the black skin
    • 8-10 mustard seeds
    • 4-5 green chillies & 1 dried red chilly
    • sugar 1 tsp
    • salt to taste
    • few chopped corriender leaves to garnish


    1. heat 1/2 tsp of mustard or refine oil in a wock
    2. add mustard seeds ,green & red chilly to the heated oil
    3. when they start to crakle add grated kaduu ,100gm coconut,sugar & salt to taste
    4. sim the flame & cover the wock with a lid and cook for 5-10 min.
    5. then add the fried prawns and remaining coconut and cook for another 3-4 min to get the water dried
    6. pour in a serving dish and garnish with chopped corriender.
