Tasty and appetizing.

Recipe by Shyamala Devi of Alor Star, Malaysia, MY

My whole family enjoys this preparation and I have cooked this very often. Try it and drop me your comments. I am sure you will love it.

Ingredients non vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1/2 kilo white flesh fish
    • 1 cup grated coconut
    • 1 tsp jeera
    • 1 tbsp corriander powder
    • 1/2 tsp tumeric
    • 15 Bombay onions...sliced coarsely
    • A handful curry leaves
    • salt
    • A little water
    • Oil for shallow frying

    Directions

    1. Cut the fish in rounds about 1.5cm thick.
    2. Grind the coconut and jeera into a paste.
    3. Mix the chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, and a little water. Then mix all these to the coconut paste.
    4. Place the fish on a big bowl and rub this paste evenly. Then add curry leaves and onions sliced coarsely. If mixture is too thick add more water.
    5. Prepare a non stick saucepan and fry on a low flame until onions and masala becomes crispy.
    6. Serve with plain rice and vegetables or a salad dish.

Note:  Use oil sparingly. Fish should be cooked with the masala and onions until it is dried completely.
