Vada curry

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup chana dal
    • 1/2 bunch of mint leaves finely cut
    • 1/2 bunch of methi leaves finely cut
    • 4 cloves
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 2 onions chopeed straight
    • 2 tomatoes chopped nicely
    • 1 tbsp chilli powder
    • 1 tbsp dhaniya powder
    • 1 tbsp roasted jeera powder
    • 1 tbsp garam masala
    • 1/2 cup ginger, garlic,coconut  and green chillies paste
    • 2 green chillies
    • oil and salt to cook
    • coriander leaves for garnishing

    Directions

    1. Soak chana dal for 5-6hrs nad then wash thoroughly
    2. Add 1/4 bunch of mint and 1/2 bunch of methi leaves and 1 onion and grind it coarsely with 1/2 tbsp of water
    3. Add salt in this mixture and set aside for 5mints
    4. heat oil in a pan and fry this grinded mixture into small vadas and keep aside
    5. After 10mints put all these vada in a bowl of water and mash it into smooth mixture
    6. In another pan add 3tbsp oil after getting heated add cloves,cinnamon,erst of the mint leaves,onion,green chilli and fry it nicely until raw smell of onion goes
    7. then add ground ginger garlic coconut and green chilli paste and fry until raw smell goes with little water
    8. then add tomatoes, and all the powders and cover it until its cooked
    9. then remove after 5 mints and add the mashed vadas into it, mix it nicely and add lot of water such tht vadas get cooked with all the masalas
    10. then in this curry add coriander leaves and garnish it
    11. tastes good with idli, dosa, pongal, rice
