King Fish with Kokum

This is very tangy recipe and can be prepared in a jiffy.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings


    • 3-4 pieces King Fish (large)
    • 1 tsp coriander powder (dhania powder)
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds powder (jeera powder)
    • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
    • 2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • Salt to taste
    • One small ball of tamarind
    • 3-4 tsp oil
    • 12-13 kokum (Amsul)

    Directions

    1. Wash fish pieces thoroughly and pat them dry.
    2. Add water to tamarind and extract pulp.
    3. Mix dhania jeera powder,chilli powder.turmeric,ginger-garlic paste,salt and tamarind pulp and make a fine paste.
    4. Apply this paste to fish pieces and marinade them for 15-20 minutes.
    5. Take a shallow sauce pan and apply oil to the base. Place 5-6 kokum at the base and put fish pieces in the pan. Place remaining kokum on top of the pieces and cover the sauce pan with a lid and cook for about 3-5 minutes on a low flame.
    6. After the pieces are cooked from one side turn them upside down and cook from the other side.
