Karela (Bitter Gourd) is a bitter sweet vegetable that is not very popular with kids. People who develop a taste for it, really love it. Try this recipe at home and who knows you might just start loving it.

Ingredients


½ lb Karela 1 Onion 2 Raw mangoes (medium) 4 Green chillies 1 tap Ginger paste ½ tbsp Jeera a pinch of Hing 2 tbsp Haldi powder 2 tbsp Coriander powder 2 tbsp Red chilli powder 1 tbsp Saunf 4 tbsp Oil Salt to taste

Directions

1.Remove the covering of the karela, cut into chips and put salt on them. Keep aside for 4 to 5 hours. 2.Wash Karela chips with water. 3.Chop the onions, green chilly. Grate raw mangoes. Coarsely ground the saunf 4.Heat oil in a kadahi, add hing, jeera, put green chilli and ginger paste. Add onions, fry till it turns light pink. 5.Add haldi powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder. Now add karela chips and mix. Cover the kadahi and cook till Karelas are soft. 6.Add grated raw mangoes and mix. Cook till they are soft too. 7.Add coarsely ground saunf and serve hot.
