Shruti, Rita and Farid are all correct. The gujratis (mostly hindus) make their theplas savory and the Asians, particularly from Africa make theirs sweet and ,yes, they do put eggs in theirs, but I am sure that if you added a little more raising agent or vegetable shortening to substitute for the eggs, they would turn out just as delicious.

Your name is quite correct. My mum is 85 and she still makes thepla with eggs and I do too. Naam me kya rakha hai jaab khane me maja hai.

Thepla NEVER HAS eggs in it. Dont create your own recipes and name it as thepla ..
