hi, i tried idli batter with the recipe posted on my cook blog. recipe4cooking.blogspot.com/2009/12/idli.html . my question is, my idlis when i removed it from the idli mould were slightly sticking to the mould. is it because i added little bit more urad dal? my idlis were nice ravedar. i want to perfect my idlis. pls help and comment on my recipe if possible. thanks. manisha

Hi ! One can add some yeast or a spoonful of curd to the idly batter before keeping it overnight. This will ensure that the idlys are soft.

Hi...Idli rava is a type of rava which is slightly thicker than regular rava. This rava is mainly used in making Idli's only. It can be easily found in grocery stores as Idli Rava itself.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, broken cashews.Add this mixture to the batter.Sprinkle some coriander leaves at the end to the batter for garnishing. This gives it an additional taste.
