Dear Inderjit, Tavaseer/Tavasheer [ Vanshalochan" in Sanskrit] , is a hard, whitish, translucent substance extracted from the upper joints of bamboo plant [Bamboosa Arundinacea]. 'Vanshalochan, literally means, Eye of the Bamboo. Consisting chiefly of pure silica, this opal-like herbaceous gem, since ancient times, is used as a main ingredient in Ayurvedic medicines such as, ' Sitopaladi [read as, seetopalaadi] , which indeed acts as, 'Ram-baann', in cases of persisting cough and cold. Vanshalochan can be mixed with honey to preserve for long time. Due to the non-availability of the natural product, the synthetic equivalent is sold in the market these days, and is equally effective. It contains various silicon salts. You might be able to get pure Vanshalochan or it's synthetic form, from some of the 'Ayurvedic medicine selling stores' in your neighbourhood. In case, you didn't, then you can write to some 'Ayurvedic medicine plants' in india, such as, TAMPCOL- TAMILNADU MEDICINAL PLANT FARMS AND HERBAL MEDICINE CORPORATION LTD. Cheers.
